First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of irritation of the respiratory tract consult a
doctor.
Emergency measure - Eyes: In case of eye contact rinse carefully and thoroughly with
water and seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: In case of skin contact wipe off mechanically and wash
afflicted areas thorougly with soap and plenty of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: In case of swallowing consult a doctor.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: There is no restriction in the choice of extinguishing
agents.

Product arising from burning: CO, CO2, HCl, Phosphoroxide and water containing gases arise
from burning or pyrolysis of substances with a chemical
composition like this new substance.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Respiratory protection and protectiv clothing, depending on
the scale of fire and local conditions.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Substance may not come into the waste water system. Solvent
containing material must be kept away from ignition sources;
avoid inhalation and contact with skin.

Keep unauthorized people away. Remove mechanically; cover
residues with chemical binder or, if necessary with dry sand
and store in closed containers. Further disposal by
incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be handled with good hygiene
precautions. Inhalation of vapours and skin and eye contact
must be avoided. Suitable safety goggles, clothing and
gloves are recommended if there is a possible contact with
the product (the substance is slightly irritant to the
eyes). Provide effective ventilation (at spraying it is
necessary to use respiratory protection). Keep away from
foodstuff.

Processing may only be accomplished in explosion proof rooms
due to toluene and styrene as solvents in the preparations
(flash point 6°C and 32°C). At contact with solvent
containing materials all necessary measures have to be
taken; sufficient ventilation or exhaustion is required.

Wash hands before breaks and at end of work.

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Separate
keeping of working clothings. Explosion protection is
required when handling toluene and styrene-containing
material.

Storage: The product must be stored dry and at room temperature in
tightly closed containers. Storage rooms should be treated
with common hygiene precautions.

After taking out material containers have to be closed
properly. Residues outside the containers must be avoided.
Preparations with solvents are flammable; remove sources of
fire; take measures against electrostatic charging.

Pentration of soil with material or extinguishing water must
be avoided.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Metal cans (1 l, 5 l).

Remarks
Transport code: 1993
Transport: Pure substance: Due to the eye irritation and liquid form of
the substance it must be stored in tightly closed containers
even for internal transportation.(classification GGVS/GGVE
class 3, number 31C). Suitable unbreakable packaging,
protection against falling down and proper labelling assure
save transport. All containers must be labelled according to
the regulations.

Opend containers must be closed carefully to avoid spillage.
Keep dry and separate from foodstuffs.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: unknown

Chemical reaction with water: No dangerous reaction with water.

The substance decomposes in water; clouding and formation of
white precipitate; discoloration (green/blue) and increase
of the pH-value. Saturated solutions in water change the
ratio between copper and phophorous in comparison to the
pure substance; this is a sign of instability.

Dust explosion: not applicable - liquid

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: No possibility of recovery. Polluted material must be
incinerated.

Only small amounts of appr. 3 l are produced and used.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No special methods are known to neutralize the dangers
arising from the substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: No dumping on waste disposal sites.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is the favorite and recommended way of removal.
The thereby produced waste gases contain hydrogen cloride.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: At this time there is no information about the removal rate
by waste water treatment. In water the substance decomposes
and a precipitate is developped within several hours. The
pH-value is changing.

At appropriate introduction of small concentrations in
adapted waste water treatment plants detoriation of the
power of the activated sludge is not to be expected.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is not used in public area.
