Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, seek medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediate and prolonged irrigation with water is
recommended, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Repeated washing with soap and water is required.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: All extinguishing agents
may be used.
Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: The substance decomposes
above 58 deg C to give combustion products which may
include carbon and nitrogen oxides together with some
hydrogen bromide gas.
Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Protective equipment, including eye
protection and a self-contained breathing apparatus, should
be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Spillages should be swept up using the precautions
indicated under 2.3.1. and collected into sealed
containers. Wash the spill site with large volumes of
water. Dispose of waste by incineration.
Handling and storage
Handling: Use protective gloves (latex or polypropylene) and safety
glasses with side shields. If dust formation is likely,
wear a suitable respirator (eg NIOSH approved dust
respirator or a North respirator mask with RP12 disposable
filter cartridges) and use exhaust ventilation.
Storage: Store at ambient temperature.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Other dangers: Due to static charging, bulk samples are
likely to generate dust.
Chemical reaction with water: Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not economically feasible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance is readily hydrolysed in water.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended. In emergencies discharge after high
dilution may be possible (<10 ppm) but will depend upon
national and local laws.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen
oxides and hydrogen bromide gas should be used.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended. However, if necessary concentrations
should be <10 ppb
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
