Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Algal growth inhibition: ErC50 = >35.4 mg/L; EbC50 = 25.5 mg/L; NOEC = 17.7 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
35.4 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
17.7 mg/L

Additional information

Algal growth inhibition has been investigated in a 72 hour test according to OECD/EU test methods

The soluble fraction of the substance was tested and the EC50 (72h) determined to be 25.5 mg/L expressed as biomass and >35.4 mgL expressed as growth rate. These are equivalent to EC50s of 380 mg/L and >528 mg/L, respectively, of BTN/A.

NOEC for both biomass and growth rate was 17.7 mg/L expressed as soluble material and 264 mg/L BTN/A.

In accordance with ECHA guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment,Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, theErC50 endpoint is used in DNEL derivation. This is because use of values based on biomass cannot be applied to an analysis of results from a system in exponential growth without logarithmic transformation.
