Description of key information

Additional information

The substance is a colourless turbid liquid at room temperature, the substance should be stored at room tempearture and in the dark. No guideline was required for these sets of studies.

Melting Point: The Pour point was determined according to EU Method A1, and produced a result of 256 +/- 3 K

Boiling Temperature: Decomposed from approximately 412 ± 0.5 K at 101.35 kPa, by differential scanning calorimetry, using ASTM E537-86, Method A2 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC. As the test material decomposed, no value for boiling temperature could be determined. A calculated value of boiling temperature gave a result of 582 K at 101.325 kPa (MPBPWIN version 1.41, © 2000 U. S. Environmental Protection Agency).

Relative density: Relative Density was determined using the pycnometer method, Method A3 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC.

The relative density of the test material has been determined to be 1.23 at 20.0 ± 0.5°C.

Granulometry: The study is not feasible as the substance is a liquid, therefore the particle size distribution can not be determined.

Vapour Pressure: The vapour pressure was determined using the EU Method A4 (vapour pressure). The vapour pressure of the test material has been calculated to be less than 5.3 x 10-3Pa at 25°C.

Partition Coefficient: The partition coefficient was determined using the shake-flask method, Method A8 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC.

The partition coefficient of the test material has been determined to be 1.79 at 21.4 ± 0.5°C, log10 Pow 0.254.

Water Solubility: Water Solubility of 162 g/l of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5°C, was determined using the flask method, Method A6 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC.

Surface Tension: Surface Tension of 66.5 mN/m (1.06 g/l solution) at 21.0 ± 0.5°C, was detrmined using a ring method based on ISO 304, Method A5 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC. The test material is considered not to be a surface-active material.

Flash point: The flash point was determined using Method A9, specified in Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC). The flash point of the test material has been determined to be 172 ± 2°C.

Auto-Flammability: Testing was conducted using Method A15 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).

The test material has been determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 388 ± 5 °C.

Flammability: Flammability is usually conducted for solid materials. As the test material is a liquid material the flash-point has instead been conducted (see sction 4.11).

Explosiveness: Based on the chemical structure of the test material the result for the explosive properties has been predicted negative using EU Method A21.

Oxidizing Properties: Based on the chemical structure the result for the oxidising properties has been predicted negative.
