Description of key information

The potential for adsorption is assumed to be low (log Kow < 3).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the adsorption/desorption potential of aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid (CAS No. 1758-73-2) are available. In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, 9.3.1., column 2 the study does not need to be conducted since aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid has a low potential for adsorption based on the log Kow (-3.38). This is supported by further (Q)SAR calculations using KOCWIN v2.00 based on the Molecular Connectivity Index (MCI) and log Kow (Müller, 2013). Log Koc values of -0.96 based on log Kow and 0 based on MCI resulted indicating a negligible potential for adsorption. This model has no universally accepted definition of model domain. Since the substance is outside the log Kow range of the training set of both models, the results should be taken with caution. The definite values may not be fully reliable, but indicate a low adsorption potential, which is also to be expected based on the log Kow (-3.38). In conclusion the adsorption potential of aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid (CAS No. 1758-73-2) is low.
