Isotianil shows no acute toxicity in the range of water solubility.

One study, similar to OECD 201, investigating the toxicity of Isotianil to freshwater algae is available (Matsuura, 2005). This study with Pseudokirchneriella sucapitata determined an EC50 (72 h) of > 1 mg/L (nominal) for growth rate reduction. Analytical measurement revealed recovery rates of ≥ 97% after 72 h. Based on the low inhibition of growth rate (3.6%) after a 72 h exposure period at a nominal test concentration of 1 mg/L, determined with a solvent, no adverse effects on algae are expected in the range of water solubility for Isotianil (< 1 mg/L).
