Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- General advice:

Move out of dangerous area. Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.

Place and transport victim in stable position (lying sideways).

- After inhalation:

Move to fresh air. Keep patient warm and at rest. Call a physician or poison control center

immediately.

- After skin contact:

Wash off thoroughly with plenty of water and soap, if available with polyethyleneglycol 400,

subsequently rinse with water.

- After eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove

contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Get medical

attention if irritation develops and persists.

- After swallowing:

Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician or poison control center immediately. Rinse mouth.

- Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Gastric lavage is not normally required. If a significant amount (more than a mouthful) has been

ingested, administer activated charcoal and sodium sulphate.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing agents:

water spray

carbon dioxide (CO2),

foam,

sand

- Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases:

hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid),

hydrogen fluoride,

carbon monoxide (CO),

hydrogen chloride (HCl),

nitrogen oxides (NOx)

- Protective equipment:

In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Use breathing apparatus.

- Additional information:

Contain the spread of the fire-fighting media.

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Accidental release measures

- Person-related safety precautions:

Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces.

Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away.

Keep away sources of ignition.

- Measures for environmental protection:

Do not discharge into the drains/surface water/groundwater.

- Measures for cleaning/collecting:

Take up with absorbent material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth or a proprietary absorbent material).

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations.

Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Manufacture and use takes place under strictly controlled conditions. The substance

is rigorously contained (production, use), appropriate risk management measures are

applied and a management system is in place. An authorisation scheme covers the

process and a procedure ensures that only trained and authorised persons handle

the substance. Process procedures for containment during cleaning and

maintenance have been accounted for in plant and engineering design as

appropriate for the site. Procedures to ensure containment have been applied for all

stages of production and processing. Occupational procedures have been assessed

and are documented.

Advice on safe handling

Use only in area provided with appropriate exhaust ventilation.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Storage

Requirements for storage areas and containers

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only.

Advice on common storage

Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.

Storage stability

Storage temperature < 50 °C

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory Protection:  If product is handled while not enclosed, and if contact may occur: Full mask, Multi-range filter ABEK/P2

Hand Protection: solvent-resistant gloves, PVC or nitrile rubber gloves

Eye protection: Safety glasses with side-shields

Hygiene measures

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Keep working clothes separately.

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Wash hands immediately after work, if necessary take a shower.

Remove soiled and/or soaked clothing immediately and clean thoroughly before using again.

Garments that cannot be cleaned must be destroyed (burnt).

Protective measures

If product is handled while not enclosed, and if contact may occur:

complete suit protecting against chemicals

Stability and reactivity

- Thermal decomposition:

350 °C

No decomposition up to the given temperatur.

- Hazardous Reactions:

No hazardous reactions when stored and handled according to

prescribed instructions.

Disposal considerations

During the whole life cycle of the substance all necessary measures in accordance to art. 18(4) of (EC) 1907/2006 are undertaken.

The substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions.

Waste air from the process is being burnt.

Solvents, mother liquors, solid waste is being burnt.

Waste water is treated hydrolytically under basic condition at elevated temperature and pressure.
