Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Following a theoretical assessment of the Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, reaction products with pentaethylenehexamine, acetate salts it can be concluded that they show no evidence of possessing explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

All of the other structures do not contain groups associated with explosive properties. The oxygen is not bound in energetic functional groups – it is bound in CO groups which do not possess explosive behaviour. A differential scanning calorimeter test (DSC) conducted on the sample indicated a total heat of decomposition of -84.9 J.g-1which is below the criteria for consideration as an explosive substance (500 J.g-1). Based on this combination of factors, it is beyond reasonable doubt that the material will not exhibit explosive properties. There are no elements of the screening procedure which begin to suggest that explosive properties may be exhibited by the substance.
