PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is PBT / vPvB
Justification:

ETD is considered to be persistent or very persistent on the basis that it was found not to be readily biodegradable in a screening study. No study data regarding hydrolysis was available due to low water solubility of the test material, however abiotic degradation in water is not anticipated to be a significant route of removal of the test material.

The substance is considered to be bioaccumulative or very bioaccumulative on the basis of a high octanol-water partition coefficient (logPow > 6).

The substance is considered to meet the criteria for toxicity (T) on the basis that it is classified as a category 2 reproductive toxin accoring to the CLP regulation.

Likely routes of exposure:

Within the registrant's supply chain ETD will only be imported as a monomer in a polymer; no import to the EU of the unreacted monomer or discreet substance is anticipated. No exposure to humans or release to the environment is anticipated from the registrant's supply chain.
