Description of key information

The vapor pressure of CAS# 756-12-7 is 707 mm Hg (94.3 kPa) at 25 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The vapor pressure of CAS# 756-12-7 was evaluated in three studies. In the key study, the vapor pressure was determined by a static method equivalent to OECD 104 and EEC directive 92/69 EEC, Annex V, Part A.4. The sample was carefully degassed by repeated evacuation of the chilled sample chamber. In the second study, the vapor pressure was determined to be 710 mm Hg at 25 °C, also by a static method, which supports the key study results. The second study is classified as acceptable without restriction and satisfies the guideline requirements for test method OECD 104 and EEC directive 92/69 EEC, Annex V, Part A.4 and is compliant with GLP standards. The third study follows ASTM E-1719-97 and ASTM D1120-94. In the third study, the vapor pressure was determined to be 719 mm Hg (95.9 kPa) which supports the key study results. The key study is the preferred value due to the careful degassing steps performed by the testing laboratory. Errors in vapor pressure measurements are typically biased toward higher readings due to the effect of complications with dissolved gases such as air. This effect is exacerbated in fluids with high solubility for gases, most notably fluorochemicals such as CAS# 756-12-7.
