Description of key information

Phosphoric acid, potassium salt (2:3), dihydrate is not acutely harmful to algae

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity of phosphoric acid, potassium salt (2:3), dihydrate (CAS No. 66922-99-4) to algae was investigated in one study by Vryenhoef and Mullee (2010). The test was performed according to OECD Guideline 201, Freshwater Algae and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test (2006), under GLP conditions. Desmodesmus subspicatus was exposed for 72 hours to the test substance, and analytical verification of the test concentration was performed. No effects on algae yield or growth rate were reported at the end of the experiment, leading to an EC50 above 100 mg/L and a NOEC 100 mg/L.
