Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
according to guideline
other: ISO R528
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The specified method is used for determining the pyrometric cone equivalent (refractoriness) of siliceous, low alumina fireclay and fireclay
refractory materials and products. Its usefull range of application depends on the availability of suitable pyromeric reference cones. It may also be
used for roughly determining the refractoriness of other refractory materials. The pyrometric cone equivalent of the test material is expressed by the number or numbers of the pyrometric reference cone or cones.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: Determination of pyrometric cone equivalent (refractoriness)

Test material

Constituent 1
Reference substance name:
Cement, alumina, chemicals
EC Number:
EC Name:
Cement, alumina, chemicals
Details on test material:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Ciment Fondu®
- Substance type: mineral
- Physical state: dark grey fine powder
- Composition of test material, percentage of components: Ciment Fondu® is a mixture of more than 99.5% milled clinker of Ciment Fondu® which is the same substance as the registered substance here, and a grinding agent
- Lot/batch No.: 1770

Results and discussion

Melting / freezing point
Melting / freezing pt.:
> 1 250 °C
Remarks on result:
other: 1250 °C represents the refractoriness of this substance.

Any other information on results incl. tables

the refractoriness of this substance was measured as 1250 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

The refractoriness of this substance was measured as 1250 °C. Therefore the melting point is above this value.
