The aquatic toxicity of the Reaction mass of sodium sulfate, sodium amino-12-dodecanoateand sodium dodecanoedioate has been assessed in three short term (acute) test as follows:

Daphnia: The toxic effect of the test item Reaction mass of sodium sulfate, sodium amino-12-dodecanoate and sodium dodecanoedioate to Daphnia magna was assessed in a semi-static 48 –hour immobilization limit test at 100 mg/L of test item. The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be ~ 100 mg test item/L. The 48-hour ECso value was determined to be > 100 mg test item/L.

Fish: The toxic effect of the test item Reaction mass of sodium sulfate, sodium amino-12-dodecanoate and sodium dodecanoedioate to Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was assessed in a 96-hours semi static test. In the control and all test concentrations from 4.3 to 100 mg test item/L, the fish survived until the end of the experiment. In the two highest test concentrations of nominal 45.5 and 100 mg test item/L some fish showed sublethal effects during the experiment including apathy, extended gills, strong ventilation, and fish mainly remaining on the bottom of the tank.

Algae: The influence of Reaction mass of sodium sulfate, sodium amino-12- dodecanoate and sodium dodecanoedioate on the growth rate and the yield of the freshwater green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was assessed in a 72-hours static dose- response test at concentrations from 1.0 to 100 mg/L of the test item. The 72 hour ECso value for the parameter growth rate could not be calculated due to the low inhibition of this parameter, for the parameter yield it was extrapolated to be 119.3 mg test item/L. The 72-hour NOEC was determined to be 3.2 mg test item/L for the parameters growth rate and yield, respectively. The associated 72-hour LOEC was determined to be 10 mg test item/L for the parameter growth rate for both parameters.

Generally, the quantification the test item Reaction mass of sodium sulfate, sodium amino-12-dodecanoate and sodium dodecanoedioate was performed using TOC-method.  The quantification of the test item in the test media was not possible, due to the complex and variable mixture of organic compounds. Accordingly, the data are presented as nominal values of the test item introduced into the respective test.
