Irritation was evaluated as part of phototoxicity study, in which 15 non-haired mice (hairless:hrhr) were given a single dermal application of the undiluted test material (20 ul) on an area of skin measuring approximately 5-cm2. Treated skin that was not exposed to the light was evaluated for irritation. The positive control was a 0.01% solution of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) in methanol, and the negative control was the vehicle (methanol) alone. If dilutions were necessary, the test material was diluted in methanol.
