Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsdo not have harmonized classifications in accordance with the CLP Regulation.

 In accordance with the GHS criteria for classification of substances for acute aquatic toxicity, Acute aquatic toxicity threshold values are as follows:

·                   96-hr LC50 (for fish) ≤ 1 mg/l and/or

·                   48 hr EC50 (for crustacea) ≤ 1 mg/l and/or

·                   72 or 96 hr ErC50 (for algae or other aquatic plants) ≤ 1 mg/l.

Classification for chronic aquatic toxicity will be relevant for substances with chronic toxicity

values (NOEC) ≤ 1 mg/l.

Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsare not considered to degrade fast in the environment.The BCF/BAF values estimated forReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsare above the cut-off values for bioaccumulation (<500 L/kg wet-w) suggesting thatReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsmay have some potential for bioaccumulation.

The ecotoxicity data onReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsare summarised as follows:

·                   Acute toxicity: LC50(EC50) <1 mg/L (estimated);

·                   Chronic toxicity: NOEC <1 mg/L (estimated).

This corresponds to Acute and Chronic Category 1 toxicity classification forReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol.

Conclusion on classification

Acute and Chronic Category 1 toxicity classification (M=10) for Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol.
