Any other information on results incl. tables

- Maximum concentration not causing irritant effects in preliminary test: 50%

Signs of irritation during induction: Five animals showed slight oedema after the 48h induction exposure. Erythema could not be scored, due to red discolouration of the skin by the test substance.

Evidence of sensitisation of each challenge concentration: 50%=0/20; 25%=0/20; 10%=0/20

Other observations:

The skin assessment was difficult, due to the red discolouration of the skin by the test substance. Therefore histopathological examination were performed. This examination did not reveal any treatment related differences between experimental and control animals.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: not classified
Conclusions:
In a study carried out in accordance with GLP and EEC guideline B.6, test substance (EC No. 413-920-6) was evaluated for its skin sensitization potential by Guinea pig maximization test by applying at challenging concentration of 10%, 25% and 50% in Vaseline at skin surface of Himalayan guinea pig. No symptoms of skin sensitization were observed at tested concentration.
Test substance was not classified for skin sensitization under test conditions.
