Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

General: In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

After inhalation: Take the casualty into the fresh air and keep warm. Keep at rest. Irregular breathing/no breathing: artificial respiration. Unconsciousness: lateral position - call a physician and show the label or datasheet.

After skin contact: Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash away with soap and water and rinse. Do NOT use solvents or thinners.

After eye contact: Remove contact lenses, keep eyelids open. Flush with plenty of water (10 - 15 min.).

After ingestion: Contact a doctor immediately. Keep at rest. Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Drink plenty of water. Obtain medical advice and show the label or datasheet if possible.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:       Alcohol resistant foam, CO2, powders.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Waterjet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or substance in a mixture: Build-up of pressure in closed containers. Danger that they might burst. Above flash-point, vapour is explosive when mixed with air. During fires, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, organic compounds and traces of inorganic substances may form. Exposure to decomposition products may cause a health hazard.

Advice for firefighters: When extinguishing fires, use breathing apparatus with an independent source of air and wear full protective clothing.

Additional information: Cool endangered containers with water in case of fire.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Remove ignition sources. Provide for sufficient ventilation. Do not inhale the vapour.

Environmental precautions: Avoid disposing the product into drainage/sewer system or directly into the aquatic environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent materials, e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth and place in container for disposal according to local regulations. Small spills may be flushed away with an excessive amount of water. Avoid use of solvents.

Handling and storage

Information for safe handling: Preparation may charge electrostatically: always use earthing leads when transferring from one container to another. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not eat or drink during work - no smoking. Comply with the health and safety at work laws.

Information about protection against explosions and fires: Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors. Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers: Store containers tightly closed in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. Never use pressure to empty: container is not a pressure vessel. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Prevent unauthorized access. No smoking.

Information about separation of incompatible products: Keep away from oxidizing agents, from strongly alkaline and strongly acid materials.

Further information about storage conditions: Always keep in containers of same material as the original one. See also instructions on the label. Avoid heating and direct sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters: None specified.

Exposure controls - Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection: If workplace limits are exceeded, a gas mask approved for this purpose must be worn. In case of non-spraying applications: Filter type: A. Colour code: Brown. Applications: Organic gasses and vapours with boiling point over 65°C. By spraying: air fed respirator.

Hand protection: Solvent-resistent protective gloves must be worn.

Eye protection: Use of safety glasses is optional, but recommended.

Body protection: Personal should wear antistatic clothing made of natural fibre or of high temperature resistant synthetic fibre. All parts of the body should be washed after contact.

Additional information about engineering measures: Provide adequate ventilation. Where reasonably practicable this should be achieved by the use of local exhaust ventilation and good general extraction. If these are not sufficient to maintain concentrations of particulates and solvent vapour below the OEL (=Occupational Exposure Limit) , suitable respiratory protection must be worn.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions.

Incompatible materials: Keep away from oxidizing agents, strongly alkaline and strongly acid materials.

Hazardous decomposition products: When exposed to high temperatures may produce hazardous decomposition products such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and smoke.

Disposal considerations

Contaminated packaging Recommendation: Contaminated packaging must be emptied of all residues and, following appropriate cleaning, may be sent to a recycling plant. Uncleaned packaging must be disposed of in the same manner as the medium.
