Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

In a Local Lymph Node Assay (LLNA) according to OECD 429, EUF showed an acute skin sensitising potential in female mice following topical treatment at concentrations of 25 and 50% for 3 consecutive days.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
LLNA test according to OECD 429: sensitising

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:

Formaldehyde is a sensitising substance at relatively low concentrations. No or only conflicting data are reported for ethylene glycol. Therefore the potential for sensitisation to EUF is most likely related the formaldehyde release after hydrolysis. Urea, as a non-sensitising substance, is of no concern.

Justification for classification or non-classification

EUF showed an acute skin sensitising potential in female mice following topical treatment at concentrations of 25 and 50%.

Proposal for classification and labelling of EUF: R43 - May cause sensitization by skin contact.
