Description of key information

The test substance is a liquid and therefore a flashpoint study was performed to assess the flammability.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

In addition, it is not expected that the Reaction mass of bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane and 1,15-dichloro-3,5,8,11,13-penta-oxa pentadecane and 1-(2-chloroethoxy) -2-(2-chloroethoxymethoxy) ethane has pyrophoric properties and reacts with water. Instead it is very well soluble in water.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance is a liquid and therefore a flashpoint study was performed to assess the flammability. The Pensky-Martens closed cup method was applied for the determination of the flash-point of the reeaction mass of Bis (2-chloroethoxy)methane and 1,15-dichloro-3,5,8,11,13-pentaoxa-pentadecane

. The flash-point of the test substance was 112°C. Based on this result the test substance is not classified as flammable.

Based on the information indicated above, no classification is needed on flammability, pyrophoric properties and reactivity with water.
