Results and discussion

Boiling point
Boiling pt.:
> 565.32 °C
Atm. press.:
>= 100.56 - <= 100.67 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
ca. 275 °C
Remarks on result:
other: As a result of decomposition, no boiling point could be determined in experimental study. Boiling point listed (565.32) is a calculated value.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item has been determined to decompose from approximately 275 degrees C (548 K) at 100.56 to 100.67 kPa. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling temperature could be determined.
A calculated value of boiling temperature, using the smallest component in the test item (sodium octanoyl isethionate), gave a result of greater than 565.32 degrees C (>838K).
Executive summary:

In a test to determine the boiling point of SLI (76) Stripped, the test item was determined to decompose from approximately 275 degrees C (548K) at 100.56 to 100.67 kPa, by differential scanning calorimetry, using ASTM E537 -86, designed to be compatible with method A2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling temperature could be determined.

A calculated value of boiling temperature, using the smallest component in the test item (sodium octanoyl isethionate), gave a result of greater than 565.32 degrees C (>838K).
