Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Even hydrolysis as abiotic degradation pathway is in the list of endpoints according to REACH Annex VIII, it is not required if the substance isn't soluble in water. Tris(2-ethylhexyl) 2-(acetyloxy)propane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate was found to be insoluble in water (< 0.05 mg/L at 20 °C and pH 7, Frischmann, 2011) and the endpoint hydrolysis was waived in accordance with REACH, Annex VIII, Section 9.2.2.1, Column 2.

The phototransformation in air was calculated with the computer program AOPWIN (v1.92a) program made available by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For tris(2 -ethylhexyl) 2-(acetyloxy)propane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate (ATEHC) an overall OH rate constant (gas-phase reaction constant) of 33.47E-12 cm3/molecules-sec and a half-life of 0.32 days (3.83 hours) was calculated, assuming a 12-hr day with an OH rate constant of 1.5E6 OH/cm³. No ozone reaction as well as no nitrate radical reaction is estimated for the compound. The assumed “Hydrogen Abstraction” gives a value of 33.47E-12 cm³/molecule-sec, which is equal to the overall OH rate constant of the compound. All calculations were performed supposing a surrounding temperature of 25 °C. Thus it can be concluded that the substance will be rapidly degraded in air.
