Bioconcentration and bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms is not expected since the log Kow value of Chloramine B trihydrate is < 3 (0.14). Furthermore contamination of the aquatic environment is unlikely for the following reason: Though Chloramine B trihydrate is not biodegradable (see DOC IIIA 184.108.40.206), experiments showed that during its application and its discharge in wastewaters, complete degradation occurs by fast dechlorination (see DOC III-A_7.3.3_1 and DOC III-A_7.3.3_2), The dechlorinated form of Chloramine B, benzenesulphonamide (BSA), is readily biodegradable (see DOC IVA / A29 and A30). Hence at the proposed use concentrations, chloramine B trihydrate degrades completely and does not enter the environment. Therefore, no further tests for fish and aquatic invertebrates are being proposed.
