Description of key information

The octanol-water partition coefficient is based on an experimental value and supporting data base information: Log Pow: 0.14 ± 0.29.

A valid experimental study provides a log Pow value of 0.14 ± 0.29, which was determined at pH 7 and 26°C. Since the study was conducted using a buffer to adjust the pH value to 7, precipitation of the substance might have occurred leading to lower concentrations of dissolved substance in water. Furthermore, due to instability of the substance in octanol, analytical determination of the substance in octanol was not possible. Hence, the concentration in octanol was determined by calculating the difference between the initial concentration (confirmed by analytical measurements) and the measured concentration in water. Based on this, the above value is interfered with uncertainty. Data base data however indicate a log Pow of 0.29, given for CAS 127 -52 -6, the main constituent of "CAS 127 -52 -6 trihydrate". Furthermore, the KOWWIN v1.67 module of EPIWIN v3.12 provides a value of -1.05 for CAS 127 -52 -6. Both values support the experimental data obtained for CAS 127 -52 -6 trihydrate, which hence will be used.
