Description of key information

THPC was tested on larvae of Artemia salina in a semistatic test at a concentration of about 0.8 µg/L in artificial sea water. The bioaccumulation was determined in relation to the protein concentration in the larvae and as BCF. Bioconcentration reached its maximum at the end of the test period (7 d): 0.075 µg THPS/mg protein or BCF = 93.75.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
93.75 dimensionless

Additional information

THPC has a very low octanol-water partitioning coefficient with a log value -9.8. This value is clearly below the recommended threshold value of log Kow of 4.5 indicating that the substance is unlikely to be bioaccumulative or very bioaccumulation in accordance with the screening criteria provided in the technical guidance by ECHA (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, R.11).

For THPC one BCF determination with the marine water invertebrate Artemia salina larvae is reported. This BCF = 93.75 indicates also no potential for bioaccumulation.
