Additional information

FR-513 was determined to be hydrolytically stable across the range of environmentally relevant pH at 25°C. The half-life of FR-513 at pH 4 and 7 was estimated to be greater than 1 year as determined by 5-day incubations at 50 °C. FR-513 was found to be hydrolytically active only in pH 9 aqueous buffer at elevated temperatures. Definitive testing at three elevated temperatures (40, 50 and 60 °C) showed a very strong temperature dependence of FR-513 hydrolysis at pH 9. Two hydrolytic degradants - DBMO and bromide - were detected and measured. Using the Arrhenius equation and the results from these elevated temperatures, the calculated hydrolysis rate constant for FR-513 at pH 9 and 25°C was extrapolated as 2.55 x 10-4 day-1, corresponding to a half-life of 2.72 x 103 days (approximately 7.5 years).
