Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

As Rhodimet AT 88 is a transported isolated intermediaite manufactured and used under strictelly controlled conditions with a tonnage higher than 1000 tonnesper year, only acute fish, acute Daphnia magna, algae and microroganisms (Activated sludge respiration inhibition testing) toxicity data are required.

Toxicity to fish:

- In an acute aquatic toxicity study performed in accordance with OECD guideline 203 , zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio) were exposed to Rhodimet AT 88 (ALIMET) at concentrations of 0 (blank), 100, 180, 320, 580 or 1000 mg (active ingredient)/L (nominal) for 96 hours under semi-static conditions. LC50 in the test without pH adjustment at 96 hours was calculated to be 385.9 mg/L. LC50 in the test with pH adjustment at 96 hours was calculated to be 240.0 mg/L.  The NOEC is 180 mg/L.

Toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

- In an acute aquatic toxicity study performed in accordance with OECD guideline 202,  Daphnia magna were exposed to Rhodimet AT 88 (ALIMET) at concentrations of 0 (blank), 58, 100, 180, 320, 580 or 1000 mg (active ingredient)/L (nominal) for 48 hours under semi-static conditions.

The LC50 and EC50 (48 hour), without pH adjustment, were determined to be 222 (195-261) and 200 (176-232) mg (a.i.)/L, respectively.

The LC50 and EC50 (48 hour), with pH adjustment, were determined to be 293 (242-361) and 287 (237-352) mg (a.i.)/L, respectively.

Toxicity to algae:

In an algal toxicity study performed in accordance with OECD guideline 201, Selenastrum capricornutum was exposed to Rhomimet AT 88 (Alimet) at concentrations of 0 (control), 10, 18, 32, 58, 100 and 180 mg (active ingredient)/L (nominal) for 72 hours under static conditions.

The ErC50 (72 hour), without pH adjustment, was determined to be 89 mg (a.i.)/L.

The ErC50 (72 hour), with pH adjustment, wasdetermined to be 130 mg (a.i.)/L.

The No-Observed-Effect-Concentration (NOEC) after 72 hours was calculated to be 58 mg (a.i.)/L.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

A study was conducted to assess the effect of Rhodimet AT 88 (ALIMET) on micro-organisms according to OECD guideline 209 . The test material was tested at concentrations of 10, 32, 100, 320 and 1000 mg/L(nominal) and the inoculum (microbial source) was activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage. Toxicity to micro-organisms was assessed by measuring the respiration rate.

Under the test conditions, the EC50 (3 hour) of ALIMET was considered to be > 1000 mg/L.
