Justification:Mineral Paraffin Oilis a complex mixture UVCB substance of variable composition. It is not soluble in water and is comprised mostly of components with water solubility below 0.01 mg/L.

Column 2 criteria for terrestrial toxicity testing ofMineral Paraffin Oilprovide the following adaptations:

·                   These studies do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely.

·                   In the absence of toxicity data for soil organisms, the equilibrium partitioning method may be applied to assess the hazard to soil organisms. The choice of the appropriate tests depends on the outcome of the chemical safety assessment.

·                   In particular for substances that have a high potential to adsorb to soil or that are very persistent, the registrant shall consider long-term toxicity testing instead of short-term.

Mineral Paraffin Oilwill not be applied directly to soil.Mineral Paraffin Oilis used at industrial and professional settings.

The environmental modelling suggests that most of components emitted to the air will likely to degrade in the atmosphere with only small to nil amounts to be found in water, soil and sediment. Moreover,Mineral Paraffin Oilcomponents are considered to degrade fast and will not persist in the environment.

Therefore, no direct or indirect exposure of the soil compartment toMineral Paraffin Oilis expected. No PNEC soil is proposed.
