Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In vitro mutagenicity was tested in a bacterial reverse mutation assay according to OECD TG 471.

Additional data on PFBS is evaluated and cited in the Existing Chemical Hazard Assessment Report by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Ageing, NICNAS, November 2005. No clastogenic acitivity was observed based on a chromosome aberration test with PFBS

Short description of key information:
A valid and guideline conform bacterial reverse mutation assay (Ames test) was conducted with tetraethylammonium perfluorobutanesulfonate and did not indicate mutagenic acitivity under the experimental conditions used

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Due to the results of the Ames test a classification is not justified
