The Reaction Mass of Diisobutyl hydrogen phosphate and Isobutyl dihydrogen phosphate (IBAP) is a complex organic substance.

Its two main components, the monoester and the diester, are very soluble in water (according to OECD 105) and are not expected to adsorb on the soil and the sediment based on their low partition coefficient (log Kow < -1) at environmental pH (according to OECD 107) and their low adsorption coefficient (log Koc < 2.5) estimated by a valid QSAR model (KOCWIN). Based on this information, the reaction mass was assessed to have a low potential for bioaccumulation and no further test was performed.

The environmental fate of the substance was investigated in tests performed according to standard guidelines and GLP compliant. The monoester and the diester were found stable to hydrolysis and the half-lives were determinated above 1 year at all pHs (according to OECD Guideline 111). The reaction mass was found not readily biodegradable (0% of biodegradation at Day 28 based on O2 consumption) under the conditions of a reliable study (according to OECD Guideline 301D).

Therefore, the substance is considered as not rapidly degradable in aquatic system and the main compartment that is expected to be exposed to the registered reaction mass is the water compartment.
