Description of key information

Bioaccumulation: aquatic/sediment: Low potential for bioaccumulation

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance hydrolyses rapidly to silicic acid and methanol. Methanol has a low log Kow value (<3) and thus has low potential for bioaccumulation. Silicic acid is inorganic and so has a very low potential to cross biological membranes. Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study (required in Section 9.3.2 of Annex IX) does not need to be conducted.
