Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (aquatic algae; growth rate)= >14.8mg/L (C.I. 10-14 mg/L), 72 hour, freshwater, EPA OPPTS 850.5400, ABC Laboratories Inc. 2004
NOEC (aquatic algae; growth rate)= 14.8 mg/L, 72 hour, freshwater, EPA OPPTS 850.5400, ABC Laboratories Inc. 2004

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
14.8 mg/L

Additional information

The algal growth inhibition to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, was carried out according to US. EPA OPTTS 850.5400 and OECD 201 Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test guidelines. The time-weighted average of the measured test substances concentrations were < MQL Minimal Quantifiable Limit (control), 0.561, 1.07, 1.92, 3.53, 6.02, and 14.8 mg a.i./L or 24to 33% of the nominal concentrations. After 72 and 96 hours of exposure, no statistically significant reduction in growth rate for the test substance treatments as compared to the control was observed, however, the 6.02 mg a.i./L treatment cell density at 72 hours was statistically greater than the control. The NOEC at 72 and 96 hours was 14.8 mg a.i./L, based on the lack of a statistically significant reduction/enhancement in the growth rate values at this treatment, the highest concentration tested. Based on time weighted average test concentrations: 72- and 96-hour EC50, ECb50, and ECr50 values were> 14.8 mg a.i./L. The 72-and 96-hour NOEC value for cell density, area under the growth curve, and growth rate was 14.8 mg a.i./L.
