- Details on sampling:
- Three series of the reference solutions were measured with two parallel injections, each. Three series of the test item solution were measured with two parallel injections, each. The retention times were determined. The three calibration series and three test item series were measured alternately.
- Details on test conditions:
- Test solutions:
The reference items were dissolved in acetonitrile. The concentrations of the stock solutions were about 1 mg/mL. These stock solutions were diluted with eluent resulting in concentrations of the test solutions of approximately 10 µg/mL. The sodium nitrate and DDT stock solutions were diluted with eluent resulting in concentration of the test solution of approximately 100 µg/mL. The test item was dissolved in acetonitrile. The concentration of this solution was about 2 mg/mL. It was diluted with acetonitrile to 1 mg/mL. - Key result
- Type:
- log Koc
- Value:
- > 5.63
- Temp.:
- 25 °C
- Details on results (HPLC method):
- - Retention times (mean value) of reference substances used for calibration:
acetanilide (3.48 minutes), methyl benzoate (3.76 minutes), isoproturon (3.71 minutes), Linuron (3.92 minutes), fenthion (4.23 minutes), DDT (4.99 minutes)
- Details of fitted regression line (log k' vs. log Koc): log k = 0.055 * log Koc + 0.046 (Rsq = 0.984)
- Average retention data for test substance: 6.64 min - Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- Using the HPLC method the log Koc (at 25 °C) of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate was determined to be > 5.63.
- Executive summary:
The adsorption coefficient (Koc) on soil and sewage sludge of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate was assessed according to EU menthod C.19 and OECD guideline no. 121 using the HPLC method. As the retention time measured for ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate (6.64 min) is higher than the retention time of the last eluting standard; DDT (4.99 min), the log Koc (at 25 °C) of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate was determined to be > 5.63.
Reference
Retention time measured for ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate (6.64 min) is higher than the retention time of the last eluting standard; DDT (4.99 min). This result shows that log Koc of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate is higher than the calibrated range. Using the HPLC method the log Koc of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate was determined to be > 5.63.
Quality criteria were met, as values of log Kocderived from individual measurements fell within a range of 0.25 log units. The correlation coefficient R for the relationship between log k and log Kocof the reference item is 0.984. The difference of the estimated adsorption coefficient to the value of reference item fell within a range of ± 0.5 log units.
Description of key information
Using the HPLC method the log Koc (at 25 °C) of ditetradecyl peroxydicarbonate was determined to be > 5.63.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Koc at 20 °C:
- 425 680
