Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Fresh water algal growth inhibition test with SR-245

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
1 µg/L

Additional information

SR-245 did not inhibit cell growth or reduce growth rate of the fresh water algae species Selenastrum capricornutum.Although this study was performed above solubility level, under the study conditions no toxicity to the organisms was detectedand no visible effects occurred during the 72-hour test period.

In the study the water solubility value was taken as EC50 due to technical difficulties in detection of the actual concentration of the sustance in the water. In a recent water solubility study for FR-245 (2005) the water solubility of the substance was under the limit of detection in the study and was determine to be less than 1ug/l due to the same technical difficulties. The value of 1ug/l is taken as the actual water solubility value of the substance.

The substance water solubility value of 1ug/l is taken as a worst case scenario for PNEC calculation.
