Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

According to the "Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance" (ECHA, 2008) the test on flammability does not need to be conducted because this test is only relevant for solids and gases at room temperature. For liquid the relevant property is the flash point (see ESR 4.11). For pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water testing can be waived based on consideration of the structure and experience in handling and use.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on its flash point at 76°C, the substance n-heptanol is not flammable.
