Description of key information

The 3 h-EC50 of 1-Octadecanol, phosphate, potassium salt (40% aqueous solution) was >400 mg a.i./L in an activated sludge respiration inhibition test. Additionally, no inhibition of biodegradation at a test substance concentration of 100 mg/L in a test on ready biodegradation according to OECD guideline 301B.

Additional information

In an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209 (4 April 1984) non-adapted activated sludge of predominantly domestic sewage was exposed to 1-Octadecanol, phosphate, potassium salt (40% aqueous solution) at concentrations of 0, 100, 180, 320, 580, 1000 mg/L corresponding to 0, 40, 72, 128, 232 and 400 mg a.i./L for 3 h. Copper(II)sulfate pentahydrate was used as reference substance.

No inhibitory effect was observed at all tested concentration. The 3 h-EC50 was >400 mg a.i./L.

Additionally, in a test on ready biodegradability according to OECD guideline 301B, also the toxicity of the test substance on the degradation of the reference item Sodium benzoate was measured. At a concentration of 100 mg/L of the test substance, the biodegradation of the reference item was not inhibited.
