Additional information

Measured acute (short-term) aquatic data are available for the effects of Shell GTL Solvent GS270 (Hydrocarbons, C15-C19, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics) on toxicity to Daphnia and algae. The substance shows no effects at the highest concentrations tested, prepared as WAFs.

Predicted long-term invertebrate data are also available using the Petrotox computer model. No effects up to 1000 mg/l were determined.

Measured terrestrial data with earthworms, honeybees and higher plants are also available. No effects were observed with honeybees and earthworms. Effects were observed on growth (measured by biomass) of dwarf bean.

Conclusion on classification

Reliable short-term toxicity data are available available for Shell GTL Solvent GS270 (Hydrocarbons, C15-C19, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics) with Daphnia and algae. The EC50 values are >100 mg/l (WAF loading rate) for both species. A NOELR value of >=100 mg/l (WAF loading rate) has also been determined in the algal test.

An estimated freshwater invertebrate 21-day NOELR value of >1000 mg/l based on reproduction of Daphnia magna was determined.

The registered substance is readily biodegradable.
