PBT assessment: overall result

- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
The CO2 Evolution Biodegradation Test (OECD Guideline 301B, see Chapter 4.1.2.1.2) demonstrated that cocoa powder reached the threshold of 60% degradation for being considered as “Ready Biodegradable” (actual: 100-114% degradation in 14d).
Cocoa powder is very readily biodegradable (not ‘P’ and not ‘vP’) and has low potential for bioaccumulation (not ‘B’ and not ‘vB’).
Further, degradation of the substance resulted in production of CO2; therefore there are no degradation products that would be considered to be PBT or vPvB.
In conclusion,it is not considered to be PBT or vPvBCocoa (Theobroma cacao) extract, kernel, partially fat reduced also referred to as Cocoa powder is not considered persistent, bioaccumalative nor toxic. [Please refer to CSR 8.1.0 -8.1.4]
