Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing mediaSuitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), dry powder or water spray. In case of major fire and large quantities: Water spray jet, Alcohol resistant foam.Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: High power water jet.Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, its combustion products, or released gases:Thermal decomposition can lead to the escape of irritating gases and vapours. Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid). Nitrogen oxides (NOx). Inhaling hazardous decomposing products can cause serious health damage.Advice for firefightersSpecial protective equipment for fire fighting: Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.Additional information on firefighting: Cool closed containers that are near the source of the fire. Remove product from area of fire. Co-ordinate fire-fighting measures to the fire surroundings.Due to gaseous decomposition products, overpressure can occur in tightly sealed containers. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately.Do not allow entering drains or surface water. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:Personal precautions: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/ mist/vapours/spray. Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours/dusts/ aerosols. Keep away unprotected persons. Wear personal protection equipment.Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities. Retain contaminated washing water and dispose it.Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Provide adequate ventilation. Absorb with liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents). Take up mechanically. Collect in closed and suitable containers for disposal. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.Reference to other sections: For safe use, see section "Handling and storage". For personal protection, see section "Exposure controls/personal protection". For waste disposal, see section "Disposal considerations".

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling: Advice on safe handling: Guarantee that the eye flushing systems and safety showers are closely located to the working place. Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations. Treat MOI in an environment, in which its concentration is kept lower than 0.025 ppm by adequate ventilation. Avoid exposure. Use personal protection equipment. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Keep good industrial hygiene.Advice on protection against fire and explosion:Usual measures for fire prevention.Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Storage space and container requirements: Keep away from strongly acidic and alkaline materials as well as oxidizers.Storage specifications: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.
