Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the absence of toxicity data for soil microorganisms, the PNECsoil has been calculated from the PNECwater using the Equilibrium Partitioning Method (EPM).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 in Annex IX of REACH (Regulation 1907/2006/EC), studies on terrestrial organisms do not need to be conducted if direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. In the ECHA "Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - Chapter R.7c: Endpoint specific guidance" this is further specified. In the case of readily biodegradable substances which are not directly applied to the soil it is generally assumed that the substance will not enter the terrestrial environment and as such no testing of soil organisms is required.

Cyclamen Aldehyde Extra is readily biodegradable and is not directly applied to soil. In the absence of toxicity data for soil organisms, the PNECsoil has been calculated from the PNECwater using the Equilibrium Partitioning Method (EPM) and incorporated into the CSA to assess indirect exposure to soil organisms. As the exposure assessment based on PNECsoil (screen) does not indicate risk for the terrestrial compartment, studies on terrestrial organisms are waived.
