Description of key information

In a reliable study performed on freshwater algae Scenedesmus subspicatus, the 72h-ErC50 of GM 102 E was 4.6 mg/L (nominal, 95% confidence limits = 3.7 - 5.8 mg/L) while the 72h-ErC10 was 1.5 mg/L (nominal, 95% confidence limits = 1.0-2.0 mg/L).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
4.6 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.5 mg/L

Additional information

One study on toxicity to freshwater algae has been conducted in 2004 with GM 102 E under GLP conditions and following OECD test guideline n°201. The study reports a 72h-ErC50 to Scenedesmus subspicatus of 4.6 mg/L (nominal, 95% confidence limits = 3.7 - 5.8 mg/L) while the 72h-ErC10 was 1.5 mg/L (nominal, 95% confidence limits = 1.0-2.0 mg/L).

All the validity criteria are fulfilled and the study is considered to have a reliability of (1).

GM 102 E is considered as toxic to algae in accordance with the Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP).
