Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae.
No toxic effects occur at the range of the substances solubility.
EC50 (72h) and EC10 (72h) > 1 mg/L (nominal) for growth rate of Desmodesmus subspicatus (OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no data of acute toxicity on aquatic algae for the described pigment are available, a read-across to a similar pigment (CAS 81-77-6) is used to cover this endpoint. The toxicity to aquatic algae was investigated in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 with the green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus [DR. U. NOACK-LABORATORIEN, 2012]. After 72 hours of exposure the substance had no observable inhibitory effect on algae growth up to its saturation limit in the test media. The ErC50 and ErC10 values were determined to be > 1 mg/L (nominal).
