Description of key information

Water solubility of the test substance in demineralized water at 20 °C is < 0.1 mg/L. No effect on pH was observed.

The water solubility is determined using the method (OECD Guideline 105, EC Guideline A.6.). To determine the water solubility of a substance, two different methods can be used:

- The column elution method for solubility < 10e-2 g/L.

- The flask method for solubility ≥10e-2 g/L.

In a preliminary test, the water solubility of the test item was found to be < 10e-2 g/L. Therefore the column elution method was chosen for the determination of the water solubility. For the main test, the test item was eluted with demineralized water from a micro-column which was charged with silica gel, previously coated with an excess of the test item. At 20 °C, 19 fractions were collected at a flow rate of 12 mL/h (column 1) and 12 fractions were collected at a flow rate of 24 mL/h (column 2). For each fraction 10 mL were collected. Before the analytical measurement the fractions were diluted 1:1 with acetonitrile. The concentrations of the test item in each fraction of both columns were determined by HPLC-analysis with MS detection. The water solubility is given by the mass concentration of the eluate when this has reached a plateau at a function of time.
