No pyrophoricity.
No flammability on contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test item is not a highly flammable solid in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.10.

Considering the structural formula and experience in handling and use it can be stated that pyrophoricity or flammability on contact with water are not a concern for the abovementioned substance. Therefore, testing for pyrophoricity or flammability on contact with water are scientifically unjustified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) powdered, granular or pasty substances or mixtures shall be classified as readily combustible solids when the time of burning of one or more of the test runs, performed in accordance with the test method described in Part III, sub-section 33.2.1, of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, is less than 45 seconds or the rate of burning is more than 2,2 mm/s. In the test performed on the substance the flame extinguished when the external flame was removed and no progression of the flame was observed.

A pyrophoric solid shall be classified in a single category for this class using test N.2 in Part III, subsection 33.3.1.4 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria if the solid ignites within 5 minutes of coming into contact with air.

A substance or mixture which, in contact with water, emits flammable gases shall be classified in one of the three categories for this class, using test N.5 in Part III, sub-section 33.4.1.4 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria.

Considering the structural formula and experience in handling and use it can be stated that pyrophoricity or flammability on contact with water are not a concern for the abovementioned substance.

Therefore, neither classification as flammable solid, nor as pyrophoric solid or substance which, in contact with water, emits flammable gases, are warranted.
