Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2006-08-29 to 2006-09-06
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Version / remarks:
, 1992
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:

Relative self-ignition temperature:
>= 340 - <= 359 °C
Remarks on result:
other:
Remarks:
at atm. press. of ca.1013.0 mBar

An exothermic reaction was observed during the test for three assays, the duration of exothermic reaction varied between 55 an 58 min. A self ignition reaction was observed during the test for two out of three assays. The maximum temperature reached by the test item was situated between 546 and 606°C.

In the study no atmospheric pressure was stated at which the self-ignition temperature was measured. Because of this it was assumed that the self-ignition temperature was measured at ca. 1013 mBar.

Conclusions:
The self-ignition temperature of the test item was situated between 340 and 359°C (corrected value).

Description of key information

The self-ignition temperature of resin acids and rosin acids, cobalt salts was situated between 340 and 359°C (corrected value).

Self heating proprieties were evaluating by test done according guideline ONU N4.

The product should be classified as self heating cat2, H252.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
