Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

No skin sensitization was observed in both studies, therefore 1-Octadecanol, phosphate, potassium salt is considered to be devoid of skin sensitization potential.

Justification for read-across:

The read-across approach is appropriate due to similar composition of source substance and registered substance. From the available data is can be concluded that the skin sensitization potential of substances with different alkyl moieties (C12 and C16) is comparable.

Data from source substance are conducted on alkyl phosphoric esters, whereas the substance to be registered is neutralized with potassium hydroxide. The irritation potential of the substances is considered to be different; however for skin sensitization there are no reasons to assume a different profile for this endpoint.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
1-Octadecanol, phosphate, potassium salt is not a dermal sensitizer.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
Reliable data from two sensitization studies, conducted according to the method of Magnusson and Kligman, with the read-across substances Monolauryl phosphate and Hexadecyl dihydrogen phosphate are available.

Justification for classification or non-classification
