Additional information
There are no microorganism toxicity data available for N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]butylamine (CAS No. 31024-56-3), therefore good quality data for the analogue substance, N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylcyclohexylamine] (CAS No. 3068-78-8) have been read across. Both substances share comparable silanol hydrolysis products, N-[3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyl]butylamine N-[3-(trihydroxysilyl)propylcyclohexylamine]. It is therefore considered valid to read-across the results for N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylcyclohexylamine] to fill the data gap for the registered substance. The other hydrolysis product is methanol, which does not have adverse effects on microorganisms (OECD, 2004).
Both substances are within a wider analogue group than the analogue group discussed in Section 1.4. Substances within this wider analogue group, in general, exhibit no evidence of significant toxicity to microorganisms.
This wider analogue group for the toxicity to microorganisms endpoint consists of a number of sub-classes of substances. However, read-across is carried out between substances with the same sub-class in most cases.
Table7.1.6 presents microorganism toxicity data available for substances within the sub-class (III-8) of substances having amino group(s) in side chain after any very rapid hydrolysis has been accounted for. Both N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]butylamine (CAS No. 031024-56-3) and N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylcyclohexylamine] (CAS No. 3068-78-8) are members of this sub-class.

Additional information is given in a supporting report (PFA, 2013l) attached in Section 13 of the IUCLID 5 dossier
The influence of the test item N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylcyclohexylamine] (CAS No. 3068-78-8) were determined in a reliable study conducted according to OECD Guideline 209 (Activated Sludge, Respiration Inhibition Test) and GLP (Ibacon, 1998). An EC50of > 1000 mg/l was determinated.
