The product has to be classified neither as highly flammable solid according to EC 440/2008, Part A, A.10., nor as readily combustible solid in class 4.1 according to the UN-Transport Regulation and nor as flammable solid according to GHS.
Executive summary:

The determination of the burning number of a powdery substance was performed according to the guideline VDI 2263, sheet 1. The burning number can vary between BZ 1 and BZ 6.

For the determination of the burning number, the sample is placed on a ceramical plate in the shape of a line being 4 cm long and 2 cm wide at room temperature or alternatively at 100 °C. An ignition source (flame or glowing coil) is applied to the pile and the burning number between BZ 1 and BZ 6 determined. In case the sample melts and can thus not burn, it is blended with 20 wt.-% Kieselgur the burning number is determined again.

For the preliminary test according to EC 440/2008, the test item is prepared as explained above. As ignition source, a flame is applied on the test item until it ignites or for at least 2 minutes (for metal dusts and metal alloys 5 minutes). The main test has to be performed in case the test item burns over a distance of 200 mm within 4 minutes (40 minutes for metal dusts). Otherwise, the test item is not classified as highly flammable solid according to EC 440/2008, Annex V, Part A, A.10..

For the preliminary test according to the UN-Transport Regulations and to GHS (CLP-Guideline) the test is performed as described above. The main test has to be performed in case the test item burns over a distance of 200 mm within 2 minutes (20 minutes for metal dusts). Otherwise, the test item is not classified as readily combustible solid of Class 4 Division 4.1 of the UN Transportation regulations and as flammable solid according to GHS, respectively.
