Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Since Octopirox has no genotoxic properties, is not mutagenic, and there are no indications for the induction of hyperplasia and / or pre-neoplastic lesions from repeated dose toxicity studies (subacute, subchronic, chronic) following oral or dermal exposure, a carcinogenicity study is not considered necessary. Based on all available data, Octopirox does not have to be classified accordingly.

Additional information

The following information is taken into account for the hazard / risk assessment:

Octopirox is considered to not exert any in vivo carcinogenic effect by any route of exposure based on the absence of genotoxic or mutagenic properties and the absence of the induction of hyperplastic or pre-neoplastic lesions in repeated dose toxicity studies (subacute, subchronic, chronic). No indications of a carcinogenic potential exists.
