Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Short-term aquatic toxicity testing on tetrapropenyl succinic anhydride (CASRN 26544-38-7) was conducted in fish (Oncorhynchus mykiss) by read-across based on a grouping of substances (category approach). Short-term aquatic toxicity testing in aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was conducted on tripropenyl succinic acid (CASRN 147384-84-7), by read-across based on a grouping of substances (category approach).  An algal growth inhibition assay (Selenastrum capricornutum, now called Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) and an activated sludge respiration inhibition assay were conducted on tetrapropenyl succinic anhydride (CASRN 26544-38-7), by read-across based on a grouping of substances (category approach). The 48-h EC50 in daphnids and the 96-h LC50 (loading rate) in fish were each reported at > 100 mg/L; the ErC50 in algae was reported at a loading rate of 110 mg/L.  Long-term testing in fish and invertebrates was not conducted; the substance is not poorly soluble in water and is rapidly hydrolysed in water at environmentally relevant temperature and pH conditions; the results of the chemical safety assessment showed that the risk characterization ratios for surface water are all below one.  Therefore, long-term aquatic toxicity testing was not indicated.
