Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Analytical Expert Group ETAD
Principles of method if other than guideline:
About 50 mg of the test sample were suspended in 30 ml octanol (Aldrich, spectrophotometric grade) in a sample flask (standard flask for the Büchi Rack R-24, volume 30 ml) and were shaken for two hours at 30°C (+/- 2°C) on a "Büchi Syncore Polyvap" with 400 rpm. Then shaking was continued at ambient temperature (23 - 25°C) for 70 hours, followed by filtration through a 0.2 µm membrane filter, then through two 0.2 µm membrane filters (Fa. Schleicher und Schuell, TE 35, Ref.-No.: 411411) (on the filter there remained a residue of not dissolved colorant) and centrifugated for 15 minutes at 13000 rpm.
The resulting clear solution was measured by UV-vis spectrometry and the absorption was determined at 671 nm. The determination was repeated three times.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The solubility of the substance in n-octanol is 697mg/L at 24°C (ambient temperature)
Executive summary:

Standard methods for determination of the solubility in n-octanol do not apply for this substance. Therefore, the analytical method for the determination with the method that was agreed upon at the “Analytical Experts Meeting” of ETAD (Basel) was used.

The solubility in n-octanol was found to be 697 mg/L at 24°C (ambient tempearture)
